Themes: What is the .text style?

I haven’t figured out what changes when I alter the color for .text

I would have expected it to do what the .base style does…but it doesn’t seem to do anything.

Are these duplicates? Or am I just missing something? Assuming that .text actually does something…it should probably be renamed because I really think .text is a better descriptor for what is currently handled by .base.

That’s a great point. “base” was one of the first selectors I made but after adding more selectors it because confusing. “text” now controls the text in panes and overviews. Does that seem better to you?
