Link in email pane is opening BOTH within pane and external browser

With 2.2.4 on Mac, clicking a link in a Gmail message in the new Email pane opens it both in an external browser window AND in the Email pane. It should only be opening in an external browser window.

Clicking the back arrow in the email pane does actually work now and bring it back to the Gmail view, though Gmail has to reload.

Fascinating, I haven’t been able to reproduce that. I’ll keep looking into it.
