Like most users I find myself using certain Legend tools many times a day; others not nearly as often. Hotkeys work well for some of these (provided I can remember all of them!), but on screen buttons would provide a more ‘always visible’ implementation of my oft-used functions.
An example would be that I usually work in a single pane, cloning that pane as needed, closing the panes to keep my screen clean and organized. Menu items for these are ‘tedious’ when done many times.
The top area of a pan seems underutilized at present–displaying the name of a pane, collapse, filter and pane options. I believe it would be very useful to see the ability to add custom user buttons that call existing Legend functions, i.e. Clone Pane, Close Pane, Expand Selected Item, etc. Think of it as an extension of the existing HotKeys, but usable in the UI.
It’s also possible that this block of user buttons (Macros?) could be docked between Boards and Actions, but it seems that it would be more intuitive to be located within each pane. New panes would then be created with the same ‘inherited’ user button bar of the previous pane unless they are changed independently.
