background color for selected item

I personally would find it very useful to be able to give the selected item a background-color. When switching back and forth I often take a while to find it. I know ^G will temporarily highlight it, but I would like a light highlight all the time as a CSS option.. Perhaps one for the active pane item and another one for the item in inactive panes (so it can be a little less bright). Thx!

I know it would be extremely useful to highlight a selected email that is showing in the email message pane even after changing focus to another pane and have requested that. I can see how it could be useful to do this for outline items whenever you need to switch your attention back and forth between 2 panes.

Just checking in on this. Would be great if there was a priority css style for the selected item’s background-color. I wil search for things and still not see the item it found.

Perhaps there would be two styles, one for active pane’s selected item and one for inactive panes’ selected items.
