Delete line skips the cursor down an extra line

This is a small but exceedingly annoying behavior in the app.

Let’s say I have three lines A, B and C. My cursor is at the start of (empty) Line A. If I press delete, there is a secondary cursor down movement so I end up with my cursor on line C!

I can see no good reason for this. Jay could you please alter this behavior?
