Sometimes the ‘front end’ of a company needs to be thinned out and consolidated for it’s marketing to be more successful.
There are too many forums, web pages and other locations for following (and marketing) Legend. I’d like to suggest:
- Thin the forums down to only Beta, Help, Bug Reports & Feature Requests. The rest are just duplications and clutter at the front end. Plus, too much noise is bad for marketing, no matter how useful it may be to a limited group.
- Stop the Blog page. It only shows slow development if it isn’t current and robust. This informations should, instead, all be part of Announcements, with each announcement having two foldable parts: Features & Bugs Fixed. Features matter to everyone; Bugs fixed matters only to existing customers.
- The announcements are the front-end to Legend marketing, and need to updated at least weekly. Imagine seeing new material every Monday morning at 9 am. “This week’s new features!”, no matter how trivial (A button to Close all non-current Panes) goes a long way. It show that the app development is as active as you expect it to be. Thinking about moving to a new app? The first thing I do now is look at their web page for timely (not auto-generated) pertinent entries. A dedicated 15 minutes to a simple announcement makes a lot of different.
- Bug fixes are great, but no one ever bought an app because of a bug fix.
Plus, everyone of these forum/web site changes thins out the amount of work Legend dev(s) need to monitor and edit.
Imagine the positivity of users when seeing an announcement every week with three little new features and some fixes, emailed to you every week. In addition, when someone is looking for an app and they see that the information is lean and consolidated, and there are lots of weekly entries on the web page.
