When I make an internal link with [[
, I don’t see any way to alter the link text that is displayed. I always get the full text of the linked item, which may be quite long. This makes it difficult to create flowing “hypertext”, where certain words in a sentence are linked to another document or section. Most other online outliners support this.
I can think of a couple of ways to enable this: first, with a popup menu allowing you to edit the link text and/or change the target. It could be brought up by control-clicking on the link for example, or right-clicking to get the edit menu with “Edit link” at the top, the way URL links work. Second, you could place the cursor next to the link, and just use the arrow keys to move into it and edit the text. Both of these are supported by Workflowy for example. Another method would be to use a different representation, like [link text](item ID), which could be editable the same way external URL links are. That’s how Dynalist does it.
