Cannot paste from mailbird email

@LauraH @Jerud you might be interested in the following one.
Given an email that I have created in mailbird to send.
When I select the body of the text and paste it in Legend outline pane (both in the legend plugin that runs within mailbird as well as the windows dekstop app)
Then nothing happens.
But I take that same text paste in NOtepad, and then recopy it, then it pastes fine in Legend.

Hrm… I’m not able to reproduce this one right now - mailbird is pasting into Moo just fine. But I feel like I have seen this before where Legend would not accept a paste of text directly from some applications. As you note - copying into Notepad / Textedit then pasting works fine.

I’m not sure the exact cases that make it work or not though. I’ll try to watch for this too Jorge; and share if I find other cases.

I also can’t reproduce, and I also am having deja vu about the phenomenon where an intermediate copy/paste was needed to somehow make the clipboard contents “compatible”. It may have actually been pasting out, not in, to Moo. Maybe we discussed it in Slack…?

I actually blew away slack once we moved to this forum. Moo was the only reason I had the app and I never much liked it.

More general I found out that pasting from office documents (such as Excel) is ignoring the CR/LF when you paste directly in Legend (solution keeps being pasting through notepad first).

So my original post of not reacting to paste operations disappeared, but Legend continues not handling paste operations from other windows applications properly:

Multiple items from MS Office (Excel, Word) it just ignores the CR/LF that separate lines and pastes everything in one item.
Pasting from emails from mailbird that have a text outline lose the indentation when pasted into Legend

HOwever when pasting from Notepad then ends of line are processed correctly.

I just copy/pasted your message above from the forum email notification I got (Mailbird) and then again from the browser window here while viewing the message. Both times it pasted correctly, although when posting out of the browser Legend interpreted everything after the first CR as child-items to the first line, which it didn’t do when copying out of Mailbird.

Any chance you have some kind of utility installed that messes with clipboard behavior? Occasionally I add a utility that works so well I actually forget about it completely….

If you enable “Show Debug Info” in the Debug section of settings, then pasting will show a message about pasting with the new paste system and let you save the contents as a file. Then if you send me that file I can easily test and fix it.
