Normally I create OneNote attachments using “Copy Link to this Page” in OneNote and then pasting into Legend. I have found two situations where these attachments get broken. Both are related to using Legend’s internal tagging characters (# and !) in uncommon ways:

  1. If the OneNote note’s title contains a “#” character, the link is pasted as its literal markdown text and is not parsed as a Legend Attachment. The “#” creates a tag embedded within that markdown.
  2. Given that the OneNote attachment is the first (or only) component of an item, and the item preceding it ends in an exclamation point that does NOT create a date tag (as if ending a sentence with an exclamation). If user backspaces from in front of the OneNote attachment to merge it into the item above it, the result is a “broken image” icon instead of the attachment.
