I think I figured out what I was doing to create this.
I was ‘reorganizing’ my docs, and copy/pasting large swaths of items from one document into another one. My intent was to keep the original document as ‘backup’ in case my idea didn’t pan out – but links in other docs remained pointed to the original doc. So when I decided to “keep” my change and deleted the original…the links all broke. There was a long enough disconnect between these things that I didn’t figure it out.
The behavior makes sense and is consistent…but also a bit too easy to stumble into.
I suggest adding a Toast popup that notifies user when they are copy/pasting items that are link targets, pointing out that the pasted items will not be linked-to and user should move the items by dragging instead, if they wish to preserve the links.
When cut-pasting, you get a dialog box (Legend acts like you’re “deleting” those items, which is its own problem in terms of the dialog box text). But no such warning if you copy…
Am moving this thread (I think) to Feature Requests.
