  • Dragged emails not appearing right away in outline

When I drag an email from Inbox onto an item in the outline, it is sometimes not appearing (i.e., no expand icon appears on the item I dropped it on so can’t expand to see the dropped email) until I click on the outline on another item.

12 days later

I don’t have repro but have been seeing a lot of “slow updates” generally. None of them involved emails, but the symptoms are similar: I drop an item into a parent and it doesn’t appear right away in a Pane which should include all children of that parent. Sometimes it happens when creating a mirror/link. I’ve been experimenting with GB panes a lot recently so that might be a factor.

Generally the moves do actually happen, there’s just no feedback. Changing Pane focus doesn’t seem to fix it – must switch away to a different Board to get an update. In all my time using Legend it has always been quite responsive – you make a change and all repercussions are immediately visible. That’s critical for new users learning, but frankly even with some experience it’s easy to get confused when the feedback loop is busted.

I’ve also noted in some panes (pretty sure only GB types) I will get the “filtered out” dashed lines around some or all items for no apparent reason. On mouseover or arrow key. This is not the result of any actual change, just mouseover. The items should not be hidden, and never do actually hide. But Legend seems to be chasing its tail a bit and maybe that’s part of the slowdown.

This is happening with file ‘attachments’, as well.
I just drag/dropped a file from my desktop into my Outline. I positioned the ‘drop’ using the “box” rather than the “insertion line” so it would become the text of the destination item (which was blank). When I dropped it, I was prompted to add it as a link or upload to Docs (expected) but after choosing to add as link and the popup disappeared, nothing else happened.

I then repeated the operation (as silly users do), but this time dropped it using the insertion line. Again, was prompted and this time the item appeared as expected. At the same time, the item that had apparently been created in my initial attempt also appeared in the Outline. It did, however, appear “below” the item I had originally tried to drop it “onto” as a sibling, rather than by becoming an attachment in the targeted item, as I would expect. The original drop-target item had a prefix while the item that (eventually) appeared below it did not.
