I had posted this elsewhere as I am sure we had discussed it during the filtering discussions, but for the love of me couldn’t find it.
The double clicking action on the filter buttons to obtain only the items that have negated that property (e.g. when I want to show only the incomplete items, which is pretty often) is not very productive for the following reasons:
- In the mobile is difficult to get it right. Sometimes I have to go through a sequence of 3 times double tapping trying the application to get it that I want the incomplete items. It’s annyoing. But sometimes after having the application run for a long time it just stops recognizing the double tap, so I end up falling back to the advanced mode and having to type -is:complete to get what I want.
- In the desktop app it works much better but sometimes as well, after the application has been open and running for a long time (20 hours or a few days) it just stops responding to the double click and only responds to the single click. I have to restart the app to get it to work again.
I continue proposing that having the filter just cycle from unfilterd-> positive filter -> negative fitler -> unfiltered would provide a simpler approach and much improved user experience. For example: All items [click] -> Completed items [click] -> Incomplete items [click] -> All items
the same number of clicks gets the result wanted (showing incomplete items only) but in a more secure and fail safe fashion. No more misclicks or retries.
