We recently gained the ability to Link / Mirror directly to Documents. Cool! In the case of Mirrors, however, the resulting item can’t get a prefix applied to it. A whoooole Document, squished into a simple-looking item. It isn’t quite right.
I have a few “breakout projects” – projects so big they get their own Document. I’ve always had a hard time integrating tasks from those projects into my main workflow because they’re in a separate place. This feature is a perfect solution since I can drop mirrors to my breakout projects right into my main list of all Projects. But they look real silly as regular items mixed in with the top-level Projects. Especially since they are in fact much “bigger” than the Projects around them.
I get it – it’s a mirror, so the prefix has to be applied to all instances of the item, and Documents don’t get prefixes. But would it really do so much harm if they did? We should be able to apply prefixes, they just won’t show up unless the Document gets Mirrored into an Outline.
