A Calendar/Agenda Pane can show the events from multiple Google Calendars, yet only the Local events from a single Legend Document. There’s less versatility in working with native events than with external/synced ones…?!
My otherwise-slick workflows fall apart in scheduling because I have local events in two Documents that I need to bring together into a single schedule. I’ve spent nearly 5 years tearing my documents apart and rebuilding them to try and get around this limitation, but everything I’ve tried creates bigger messes in the rest of my workflow.
The only solution I’ve found is to Google-sync my events just so I can see them all together. I used that for a while, but Gcal sync has ‘broken’ far too many times and in too many ways for me to trust it again. I also have no actual need for my events to be in Gcal aside from the workaround.
My suggestion for Calendar (and Agenda) Panes:
- Let the document chosen in the Overview drawer be the “default location” for new events created in the Calendar/Agenda Pane (such as by clicking inside the Calendar).
- When dragging events into the Calendar Pane, assign the !date tag to the event in its original location – don’t move/copy it to the document the Pane is pointed to.
- Upgrade the “Calendar Picker” that is currently used to choose which Gcalendars are shown, so that it also includes all Local Legend Documents. That might mean making it bigger or turning it into a full Modal.
