So this is very much in the category of, “I understand this is highly unlikely!!” But, of course you never know if you don’t ask right?
So my question is: Is it possible to add a view so that Legend behaves like Gingko App? https://gingkoapp.com/
If you’re not familiar with gingko - you almost just have to play with it to see what I mean. Best way I can think to describe it is a HORIZONAL outline (instead of the vertical one we’re all used to.) It’s a view I often love for planning / thinking / writing.
I keep thinking the multiple panes of Legend look “close”… but it just doesn’t quite work.
I suggested a “Follow Me…” pane option awhile ago - with the idea that I could set a pane to “follow” the pane next to it.
(ie if I had an outline set up for the year - lefthand pane shows top level, say “2022”, and I set a “follow me” pane next to it set to “follow me, show children” So if 2022 is selected in the left hand pane - then the child items, “Jan, Feb, March…” are shown in the next pane. Another “Follow Me” pane would mean that if “Jan” is selected, it shows the weeks in January, if I click on Feb, that “follow me” pane shows the weeks of Feb. )
Something like that get’s in the ballpark of Gingko’s functionality.
That’s quite an “out there” feature… probably nearly impossible to implement, and therefore not a good idea! But just in case Jay looks at this and for some crazy reason, it’s “easy”… I figured I’d throw it out here!
(Edited to add - for all of you who go down software rabbit holes to easily… I appologize in advance for introducing you to Gingko…)
