Is there a search syntax to show items that have a highlight?
I realize this could be tricky because highlight can apply to a small section of text, not an entire item. So, for my purposes, I’m fine if the search shows an entire ITEM (not just the highlighted text), but I’d like to view only items that have a highlight. Is that possible?
If the search showed ONLY the highlighted text - that’d be awesome too; but I’m guessing harder?
Use case: Reading Books in Legend
I’m doing some study of a series books that are in the public domain. So, obtaining the full text of the books online is easy. But just reading online does not allow notes, highlights, etc. And I do not want to print the full texts. So, I’ve copied the text into Legend and am doing my reading, note making and highlighting there.
So far, it works brilliantly. I can star key paragraphs. Add a “#note” item anywhere I wish. And then view a pane for just stared and tagged items to see my “key points”. But using the “highlight in all panes” feature, I can easily scroll my “main pane” to see where the note or star is to get more context…. I love it.
However, some of the paragraphs are long, and I don’t want to break them into separate items. Staring the whole paragraph makes it show in my “key points” area as I wish… but that much “yellow text” is distracting from the key points I actually want to highlight.
I’d like to just highlight the text I want (instead of staring the whole paragraph) so that my “key points” view is not quite so colorfully all over the place….
(Again - I’m fine if the whole paragraph is in my “key points” view… but if ONLY the specific text I highlighted is colored, that makes it much easier to scan and remember what I was trying to highlight.
