Thank you, it’s awesome! Highlight and jump-to item is the cherry on top! BTW this is exactly how I’ve always wished “following links” worked. I’m only saying that for reference, not asking for anything.
I’m temporarily forking my (rigid) workflow.
I build static boards where each Pane represents a step. I generally move items left → right and each Pane presents them differently to help me process. I orient myself to complex data spatially, so if I rearrange a Board I’ll get lost. I size my Panes so they scroll with 1-pane of overlap; a 5-pane board will show 1, 2, 3 when it’s all the way left, and 3, 4, 5 when all the way right. Pane 3 is the bridge. Otherwise I get “lost in the middle”. It’s quick to just slam the Board all the way left or all the way right. I love it! All this means I really don’t like to add/move/resize Panes. At least not on my core Boards.
But I also don’t like to squint at a narrow pane off on one edge of my monitor for two hours –or I need to drill down into a node. If it’s really quick, I’ll just zoom and know I can “back” to where I started. But if it’s going to be a big dig, I want to focus. BOTH of the changes you just added are amazing for this. Focus mode is great if I just need to enlarge what exists and eliminate distractions. But popping a clone lets me basically drop a “save point” at the exact point where I diverge from the usual workflow. I can wander and roam, do advanced filters for complex queries, sort and play, or look for lost items. And when I’m done – or completely lost – I just hit esc and I’m back to the safety of the main workflow.
