Cursor placement at the end of the line is wrong

The cursor location and selection highlight are off when at the end of the first line of an item with a second line. The cursor stays at the end of the first line after the last space when it should move to the beginning of the second line. And selecting across the end of the line results in the selection highlight being one character less than it actually is at it seems to select the space at the end of the first line before extending the selection to the second line.

Hopefully this screen capture makes this clearer. What I am doing here is moving the cursor to the end of the line with the arrow keys and then pressing Delete. And then selecting across the end of the line and pressing Delete. This is using the Windows app.

Given any line item in the windows desktop app in a filtered list view
When you place the cursor with the mouse at the end of the line
Then the cursor is placed BEFORE the last character instead of AFTER the last character
If you type anything it will be inserted before the last character which is wrong.
If you press once the rigth arrow cursor key in the keyboard to move the cursor to the last character once itis returned to the same place before the last character. If you press it again then the cursor is finally correctly placed after the last character and then you can type and add text at the end of the item.

Jay The second (bigger) issue where the selection across the end of a line is shown as one character less than is actually selected is corrected now. Thanks.

The first (more minor) issue remains, where whether you use the arrows or select with the mouse, you can’t set the cursor position to immediatelly before the first character on the second line. If you try, it will be after the space on the previous line instead. All editors I’ve seen (eg, Word, this forum, and the Legend note editor window, as 3 examples), whether you use the arrows or mouse to try to move the cursor to after the space on the first line or before the first character on the second line, will put the cursor before the first character on the second line and never after the space on the first line. While not a biggie, it throws me off a lot because it’s not how my brain has been trained to expect it to work. Make sense?

andrew Yeah, that’s a larger issue I haven’t figured out yet. Input in Legend actually goes into a hidden background input and renders a custom caret and selection into the pane. So it renders the custom caret at the position that the browser reports it being, but for some reason it always reports it at the end of a line even if it’s displaying at the beginning. I’ll put it back on my todo list to see if I can figure it out now.
