Given an existing instance of Legend Windows Desktop that has been running for a while and therefore has collected a number of backups in the backups folder within the Roaming folder
When you install an updated version of the desktop application
Then the installation wipes all the directories including the backups folder.
It’s’a great thing that the installation wipes out everything to make sure you start with a clean installation ensuring any remnant of previous versions is eliminated, but it should preserve the backups folder. Or even better have an option in Settings where the user can specify where you want your backups (perhaps you want them in a NAS for persistent preservation), and that way it wouldn’t matter if the installation wipes all of the Legend folder inside the roaming folder, your backups will aways be preserved.
I for one have completely given up on the google drive backups (because I want frequent backups as I have limited trust on consistency for the moment), and I don’t pay for extra space in Google (I have enough of it in my laptop and NAS).
I know that Legend infrastructure also keeps it’s own set of backups, but the restore facility doesn’t have the necessary functionality needed to be able to rely on those infrastructure backups. Therefore I must rely only on my local backups to protect my data.
