This is particularly more important for me with the new Gmail pane because that pane necessarily needs to be much wider than the old email pane, so it is difficult to fit that pane alongside an outline pane with an open overview panel. Having a little narrower overview panel would add precious horizontal space, particularly when working on a small laptop.
