I hope everyone got a chance to reach the announcement emails sent out last night (check your spam folder and if you are feeling generous mark it as not spam & then important). Reading this entire thread has gotten me fired up! Yes, there are challenges and we have our work cut out for us but the love you all have for Legend is clear.
SamMarrocco I don’t believe it could possibly be an underfunding issue. Understaffing, perhaps.
If it was purely a money issue, a simple solution would be this: Shut off the tap for free usage after 60 days, then you must pay for subscription
SamMarrocco It was an underfunding & understaffing issue, Jay is a beast for taking it this far.
SamMarrocco I’m continuing to deal with problems with the iOS app on iPhone, synching errors when it is left running, and Windows App problems where items I have deleted re-appear later as blank lines that cannot be deleted and corrupt documents.
We are investigating these, i’m looking forward to our chat. For folks that are willing to hop on a call with me, please grab a slot on my calendar
christophe I’m thinking in particular of this black connection banner that appears as soon as you open the mobile application on Android (bug for at least 6 months), it’s unbearable
christophe Is this still happening? We will look into the following
- Problems with Mailbird are frequent.
- We still can’t manage emails on Legend,
- document management problem (impossible to delete old documents, impossible to permanently delete deleted items).
Eik I’m also very interested what the future will bring for Legend. A roadmap and actual commitment to the roadmap would be nice.
Eik We are starting to do this slowly with our planned for September section and will soon publish proper roadmap plans at https://community.legendapp.com/roadmap
SamMarrocco Communication in general on the boards and marketing seems stalled. When was the last time a dev posted a Legend Forum acknowledgement/response? Similar to Christophe, I was about to invest in a lifetime Legend purchase, but the lack of feature development for so long makes me nervous.
SamMarrocco We hope we off to a good start with earning back everyones trust, Improving comms and fixes is the #1 priority for the rest of the year.
andrew What it is now is actually much simpler (just a browser window rather than actual email client).
We are aiming to bring native email & calendar back for Gmail before the end of the year
christophe I’m sorry for these harsh words, but I need to know if I should continue or not on Legend.
christophe Answer: 100% continue, we will be making Legend better than ever.
wecanseeformiles @Jay my priorities/likes would be: bug fixes, multi-pane outliner capabilities, agenda pane (with google calendar integration, and ability to drag in emails and URLs I need to work on. The linking together of different records is something I don’t use much.
Noted
Jorge In my case only recently the Windows desktop app is no longer able to drag an email from the browser window with office 365 to the outline.
The permalinks in OUtlook would be ideal, but the very minimum is to be able to at least fire the search with the parameters of the email so that it finds it, that works for me in 98% of the cases and that is good enough.
I had to go back to mailbird to be able to continue moving my email into my outline.
Jerud After Google killed the OG Email Pane, I fell back to the Mailbird integration, which used to be robust and reliable. But now it isn’t – and I’ve stopped using even that. Do I still wish I could attach emails to my Legend items? Yes.
Jerud We will ship a mail.Vella.ai pane in to legend next week, only supports Gmail now but this means drag & drop will continue to work since it’s our webmail application. After that stop gap measure, we will aim to recover native Gmail while we scope out support.
Tons of love
inkblot A few months back I went onboard with the lifetime plan
The main weak points for me are the lack of task history for repeated tasks, alongside the issue where if a weekly task is missed, when you get to next week’s task you are obligated to mark as complete both the missed prior task as well as the done current task.
inkblot thank you for being a lifetime member ❤️. Can you add your feature request into our new space?
andrew he value I derive from Legend has always been derived from the ability to integrate Gmail and Google Calendar with all the tasks and information that I need to live my life efficiently and effectively.
❤️ andrew I might have to steal “live my life efficiently & effectively”
they86 I stumbled upon Legend (Moo.do) about 5 years ago and was hugely impressed: the core structure of the app is so much more powerfull than competitors like Workflowy, Dynalist, etc. The Boards and Panes are really unique.
I’m saying a prayer for this wonderful product! May it stumble upon millions and millions of extra users and thrive like never before! 🙂 🙂
❤️
Jorge I for one have been paying the anual subscription price for a few years and although I appreciate the legacy price, I am sure some of us are willing to pay the lifetime to give Jay a boost in money.
❤️
Jerud I am eager to do what I can to support the app. I’d love to just write you a monster check … sadly that’ll never be me.
❤️
