Sometimes auto-expand is indeed helpful, but for me most of the time it does more harm than good. I know how I’d like this to change, but not sure if that would be good for other users. What do y’all think about it?
I spend a LOT of time collapsing outlines. In my usage I want/expect things to be “where I left them” but auto-expand just gets triggered too much. This is particularly annoying when I have expanded only a couple specific branches but then have to do a “collapse all” and re-expand my desired items manually. I do zoom in for ‘focused’ work, but much of what I use Legend for is organizational, so I want to keep several sections of my Outline expanded for moving items around, without having all the siblings open. That can create scroll hassles and possible drag/drop errors with similarly-, or identically-, named nodes.
I particularly dislike auto-expand after every filter change, and really hate auto-expanding Parents when they are pasted.
Probably it’s impossible to create a single behavior that works for everybody so I’m curious what kind of settings we could use to control this without creating a lot of complexity. I’d be happy with a single toggle to fully disable auto-expand globally. Yes I would have to manually expand some times, but it would be much less than I have to collapse today.
