  • My Medium article about Legend

I feel that Legend does not get the attention it deserves. It may not be the app for everyone, but it is certainly smartly built and offers unique utility in the notes/tasks market. So I wrote an article for Medium, which you can find here:

I don’t expect this to have much impact… truly few people read my articles on Medium. But I thought it may interest folks in this forum… and I’d welcome any feedback you might have.

This was a nice little reading!

I’m new to Legend and although I knew all the features you described, it was a quick overview and I agree Legend should be more popular!

I’ve been searching Outliners and similar app for more than a year. I Started with Workflowy and still use it to this day because of it’s simplicity but that’s also why I’m looking for other options… To get more done in a single app.

In the past year of research, I don’t recall any appearance of Legend (or Moo.do). Well not in a way that got my attention at least! And I’ve seen and tried a lot of them, Dynalist, Logseq, Checkvist and workflowy were probably the most popular in my findings until recently when Legend finally got my attention!

Now I’m trying to see if it can really do it all and how I can bring my existing system without destroying all the organisation I built in the past year!

dfrigon Thank you. The truth is all these apps are great in their own way. Ten years ago if you’d given me one of them I’d have thought I had died and gone to heaven. But there are so many that I sometimes feel I’m drowning in possibilities. Legend deserves attention because its ambitions are higher, I think, and it largely succeeds.

SteveZ This is great! It’s really helpful to see what you find valuable.

Would you like to try to spread it around the social medias, like on reddit.com/r/productivity or in other forums? Other people may find your article valuable, and we could certainly use help spreading the word 😅. We’ve been just totally focused on development for a while, and I agree we need to get more people talking about Legend! I’d be happy to post it on Reddit if you’d like, but it’s probably better if it doesn’t come from me…

We could post it on our Twitter and blog, and I’ve been thinking about making a page on our website with links to articles like this, so we could start it out with yours. Would you like us to do that?

Jay I will post about the article on Reddit. I do not use Facebook or Twitter, but you have my approval to do so. In fact, use the article in any way that helps you promote Legend. I hope it helps.

SteveZ Hi Steve, did you get a chance to post it on Reddit? If you did and I missed it, do you have a link to the post? I think https://www.reddit.com/r/bulletjournal/ or https://www.reddit.com/r/productivity/ would be good places for it. If you’d rather not bother with Reddit, maybe someone else here can post it?

Also, we just created a Medium publication (https://medium.com/legendapp) where we’re going to publish our future articles. Would you like to add this article to our publication to be the first post? 🙂

Jay I hadn’t posted to Reddit yet, because I felt it wouldn’t be right to put it into a subreddit specifically about another app. I have, though, just now posted it to the productivity subreddit you suggested.

As for adding my article to your medium publication, I am fine with that. I am just not sure how to do it. I’ll look into it.

SteveZ I added you as a writer on the Legend publication, so I think you should be able to add your article to the publication.

Jay I figured it out. You have to be in edit mode to be able to select a publication to post to… and you have to be listed as a writer for that publication. Anyway, the article should be awaiting your approval.

                Great, it’s published! Thanks!
