Hide certain overdue items from agenda without completing them

I know it is probably against the purpose of the agenda but I would like to ba able to set dates on some items but never see the overdue items when in agenda view. Let me explain..

I use the dates for tasks and for those, I really like the overdue section of the agenda but on the other hand, I also assign dates to my meeting notes so I can find a past meeting based on the date. For those, I don’t want to see them in the overdue section since they are just meetings but I don’t want to “complete” them because then they won’t show when there is no filters applied.

I tried assigning #tags and the filter out the tag but that’s also removing any meeting, current and future too!

I was thinking about separating the meetings in a different section of my notes but that wouldn’t work because I have both Tasks and Meeting inside each of my project which are all at the same place (The source of my agenda)

Do you have any idea how I could achieve this?

This was going to be my initial suggestion, shame it’s filtering associated items out - I organize my meeting notes differently, whereby they’re stored in Drive and then simply linked to the agenda item, so while I can use Legend to “see” my agenda and interact with it, the notes and various other processes all happen in Drive.

I’m also a little newer to Legend so more wary about making it a one-stop for EVERYTHING so perhaps my processes will change as I get more comfortable

There is no direct way to do what you’re asking here @dfrigon (ie - no way to set a date and have it not show in the agenda). However, if your goal is to associate a date with your meeting notes and not move them to a separate area of your outline, here’s a few ideas of possible ways to get that with Legend.

Set the dates as tags instead of dates. Something like: #2022.01.25. Then a tag view, sorted by tag name will present all your meeting notes in date order. And since it’s a tag, it won’t show in your agenda.
Similarly, you can just leave the meeting date as TEXT (not an actual “date” in legend) and then search for the text of the date to find the meeting notes. Similar to tag, if you use a date format like 2022 Jan 25, or the same as the tag above it makes searching for the text easier. (ie: A search for “2022 Jan” or “2022.01” will bring up all the meeting notes from January).
Use one tag for “active” meetings, and change it to a slightly different tag when the meeting is completed. Then hide that “meeting completed” tag from your agenda. If you use something like: #meeting and #meetingC. then you can still search for #meeting to get all meeting notes, and add the “C” when needed for your filters, etc.
Consider “completing” any meeting notes in the past. They will still be visible if you turn on the “show completed” filter, and therefore they will still be visible within their associated projects, etc. But they can easily be filtered out of the agenda by hiding completed items.

There are likely more ways to meet your needs - these are just what I was able to think of quickly.

Thinking about it more…. I think there IS a direct way to do what your asking!

Assuming all you meeting notes have a tag, a filter for:
-(#meeting and date:overdue)

That should filter out only the overdue items tagged meeting and leave anything with a current or future date visible.

LauraH That’s what I ended up doing actually.

The only thing is that I don’t really understand how to combine 2 search term together.. the “and” operator does not seems to change anything actually. (Maybe because it is only available in advanced search..)

Jay would need to verify, but I think Legend assumes the “and” in searches. (ie - you don’t have to explicitly state it.). So a search for -(#meeting date:overdue) is the same as -(#meeting and date:overdue).

If you want it to be an OR search, then you do need to specify that. For example, I commonly filter my chores list for: Date:today OR date:overdue
