We’ve had a lot of feedback on this forum, emails, and video calls with beginner users that Legend is hard to get started with. We’re now looking at redoing the intro to make it easier to learn Legend’s difficult concepts.

Our theory is that an improved intro has a less filled out starting document/boards along with a guided intro explaining how documents/panes/boards work. We’ve been told that the intro focused too much on explaining the basic/obvious things like how to create an outline, but never explaining the hard/unusual things like documents vs. panes.

Do you think this is a good introduction to the basics? Does it miss anything important or explain anything poorly?

    I think it is looking really good! i like the order of view options > then new pane set up. Interested to hear what others think of it too!

    Couple things right off the bat:
    2nd tool tip tells me to “sort by heading”… but there is no “heading” option under sort by… you mean GROUP by Heading.
    3rd tool tip - I can’t give feedback beyond this tool tip, because the tip window opens over the overview bar and blocks my ability to click anything in the overview….

      LauraH Try it again? Those things should be better now.

        Jay I think this approach will be helpful. I also think adding some use case videos will also help people understand what they can use Legend for.

            I think it’s really helpful and I like these intros. But now some topics in the Getting Started guide are redundant and are already checked. I personally would reset these topics as they are also checked in the wrong order now which might be confusing.

              MalteG Good point! We’ll postpone the tracking until the walkthrough is done, and maybe look at rewriting some of the steps.

                What do you think of this? Do you think it’s helpful? Should we add more videos for other topics?

                    I think the videos will be very helpful, too. But the speed of these videos is way too fast! I can barely see which menus were clicked. Maybe you could just slow them down a bit?

                    Jay I think these new videos are very helpful to new users. I agree with @MalteG that they are a little hard to follow due to the speed.

                    I would suggest adding more topics as you’re able to. I still think having videos of use cases can also be very helpful to new people trying to imagine how Legend can help them.
