MooRules @Jay I had the same issue. Couldn’t tap the overview button. Plus all but 1 outline pane disappeared , showing my test document. I cleared the app storage (since I couldn’t sign out) and then signed in again and now just see a blank screen with no panes, no document, and no overview button.

    Jorge @Jay
So I hope this helps with the information loss.
Doing a binary search on my backups to find the point at which my “Issues” branch stopped appearing I found this:

Notice that the “Issues” branch (which is missing in the 2nd backup), with a parent id of the 2 children as “—–pkv” in the Apr 20 backup but it changed to “—-f0e0” in the Apr 21 backup, while the other ids of other items stayed the same. This “—f0e0” seems to be the id of the root of the outline. So it would seem that the branch item did disappear from the outline and the children were promoted to the root (according to the backup) but this is not what I see inside Legend as I can’t find any of the children anywhere in the outline.

@Jay i tried restoring the backup from the one I found that contained my lost branch, but the restore process in Beta is failing. The restored document has only 82 items. Whats worse it messed up my whole Job outline because it seems to have loaded all the items in the original document

What do I do??? Should I delete my old document and try to reload the backup with no document that is named the same way (or have the same document id for that matter)? Should I restore the backup in the stable version?

      Jorge
@Jay So I decided to restore the most recent job document from my backups in stable. It worked fine I can see that my Job document in stable seems correct and fine. HOWEVER, Firefox in Beta doesn’t see the restored document, it only can see the messed up document that was caused by the first restoration. The document that was restored in Stable is only accessible in Stable and not in Beta.

So now I am forced to back to Stable, impossible to work in Beta!!!

Edit: Refreshing Firefox doesn’t seem to work , So I tried opening up Edge and signing in from scratch and it that case it picks up the restored document just fine. Signout of Firefox and signed back in, and now it recognized the just restored document.

The item counts continue to be different when seen in desktop stable than when seen in the browser beta versions.

However, the beta version is missing something that makes it fail to recognize a new document immediately.

andrew I am now also having the same problem in mobile app, the overview button doesn’t. respond

Jorge I still can’t get anything but a blank screen (basically a board with no panes and no overview button) in the mobile app.

I’m wondering if the problem is that when I signed out of the mobile app and back in, it was in Stable but there is Mobile board in Stable so it showed no panes and no overview button so no way to put it back in Beta. I tried manually creating a Mobile board in Stable but that didn’t work (from past experience, it seems the mobile app needs to create the Mobile board for it to work).

andrew In my case, because of what you said I don’t want to even attempt to sign out.
My mobile app was reset to 4 panes that are just labeled “Outline”; before I had each pane with a custom name.
And the outlines each one is pointing to, do not correspond to either the beta or stable mobile boards. They seem to be a previous state of those mobile outlines, so for some reason the mobile board in browser or desktop (either beta or stable) is no longer kept in sync with what the mobile app is showing.

Edit: I made some changes in the Browser Beta Mobile board, renamed the panes again and set them to point correctly to the branches I wanted. The names of the panes were refreshed to the mobile app. The panes however appear sorted alphabetically in the mobile app, while in the browser app I have them manually sorted differently (no biggy).
However, the branches the panes are pointing to are NOT being refreshed in the mobile app. IN the browser board the panes are pointing to the correct branches and documents, in the mobile app 2 panes are pointing to the correct document the other 2 are not pointing to the correct document (and because of the overview button bug) they can’t be changed. After a refresh of the app (restarting it) it seems to have taken all the changes I made in the beta browser, however, because I hadn’t input password for one of the documents, the panes that point to that document are not being pointed to correctly, and because of the Overview Bug I cannot open and input the password to that document in the mobile app, so it is defaulting to pointing to another already open document.

andrew Have you tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it?

              Jorge @Jay
So after being able to restore my Job document fully, I was also able to spend another bulk of time restoring the “Issues” branch that I had lost (that was 412 items that had been lost). I now have to repoint all my board and panes to the newly restored document (as it has a different name and Id). Next step will be to find the other big branch I had lost before.

@Jay I am still concerned about knowing that 2 big branches had been lost, and how much more I don’t know it has been lost. We need some assurance that this problem is being addressed with priority as losing information is not acceptable.

              • Jay replied to this.

Jorge I did and that didn’t work. But in Stable, while I didn’t have a Mobile board, I had about 20 empty boards named “Board”. Hoping that one of those was actually the board assigned to the mobile app, I added an outline pane to each one. This appeared to be the case because in the mobile app, I could then see an outline pane and thus access the overview panel and the settings menu in order to change the mobile app back to Beta.

After doing that and signing back in, I got my Mobile board back (as it exists in Beta). I still can’t access the overview panel in Beta but at least I can navigate around the document within my panes.

I just released a fix to the overview button not working, and the new item popup bug with selecting documents that @Jorge had reported.

It sounds like maybe beta is not immediately updating when documents are created in stable. I will look into that and try to release a fix asap.

Jorge The missing branches problem is absolutely a top priority. Losing information is not acceptable. Thank you for the snippet data from your documents! That helps a lot. My guess is that the Issues item was mistakenly “moved” to a different document. If you do a global search for Issues does it appear to be anywhere else? I will look through your documents to see if I can find it by that ID.

Jay That’s’the first thing I did, trying to find it anywhere else, but it wasn’t there. Only place I could find it was in backups.

Jay After this last update…. the mobile can now open the overview and change documents, so problem fixed. But this introduced a new problem: In themobile my new document that I just imported from backup and renamed cannot be accessed. In my other laptop in the beta browser app also the same document cannot be accessed at all (it doesn’t even appear in the list of encrypted documents.

Jay The overview panel does now open. I am still occasionally experiencing the bug where are the overview panel in the mobile app doesn’t close after selecting an item. It is sporadic and I have not been able to reliably reproduce it.

Jay Mobile beta had been working ok but just now I went to navigate via the overview panel and an error toast popped up (I didn’t tap Report because at the time it didn’t look like anything significant happened). After dismissing the error toast, all panes were gone except I was left with one pane titled Outline that was blank. Killing the app and running again created another pane titled Outline (leaving 2 such panes). My document did become visible. again.

Jorge So not only on mobile app, but also in my other laptop I signed into the beta browser app and found that the document I had imported and renamed was not showing in the overview panel as encrypted in order to open it. I signed out and back in a few times and each time I saw that the name of the document was somehow evolving through the names I used until the last time I did it finally came up as the correct final document name.

So definetely something is up in the document management versioning in the beta.

I just released an update which should fix the problem where adding documents did not load them correctly on remote devices. If you sign out of those and back in, the missing documents should appear and added documents will load correctly in the future. @andrew @Jorge

Please let me know if that seems to be working better?

I use 2 laptops, one with the windows legend app 2.1 running beta. The second laptop ran with an older version the legend app, so I updated that last weekend to 2.1 as well and started up legend in beta. To my surprise new boards were created on my second laptop, all named ‘Board’ and no panes on it. Also the new boards I created on the my first laptop did not become visible. Aaargh. Now I’m working on my first laptop again, some (not all!) of the new boards that were created by my second laptop appeared and one board was missing I previously had on my first laptop! Aaargh. Had to recreate some boards on my first laptop again. Kinda frustrating. And to keep in mind when moving the new sync system from beta to stable I guess. As of now, I would expect a lot of ’service call’s from customers running stable when this new sync system moves to stable.

                    • Jay replied to this.

My Mobile board disappeared from my Beta in browser. I had forgotten that I was running stable in my mobile, so I flipped the switch in my mobile to move to Beta and right there the Mobile board was recreated in the browser beta app. However, the board definitions I had were lost and the mobile board was reset to what I guess is the default of 3 panes: agenda, email and outline.

Ihadn’t tried the email pane in mobile. It’s handy that you can now move items from the email pane to the outline in the mobile, however opening email items in the mobile app is horribly slow, so I won’t be using it for now.

Eik Are they definitely both running in beta? The “Use beta version” option is selected in the menu? I’ve tested board sync a ton and can’t find any issues, but I’ll try testing specifically with the app switching between stable and beta.
