Jay I have not encountered any focus loss issues yet. I have a theory that it’s caused by having multiple instances open, or having both stable and beta open at the same time. I’ll test for that soon.

This is probably it. I run Legend on an old busted laptop in the (sawdust and steel shavings) workshop where I’m currently building my Big Project. My “real” laptop is elsewhere and I use that for both my (personal) build and paycheck-work. I only switched the junk laptop to beta at first, and didn’t try to move mine over to beta until the next day – so I did indeed create that situation. Sorry I didn’t think about that as a possible factor, and thanks for taking every report seriously!

Sometimes when I’m using Legend Windows app, beta. I see the board names change to the default ‘Board’. Closing down and starting up legend, the real boardnames reappear. But some of my boards are empty, I have to recreate them again and again and again…

Also, my links to images on my local disk disappear all the time, leaving broken image icons. When I ‘show as text’ and then ‘show image’, the image reappears. Very annoying.

Also in beta, re ordering of panes in a board does not persist. I have 3 panes on 1 board, Fist pane is a ’outline - Agenda - today. Second pane is a ‘Calendar - Day’ and third is a ’Outline - Completed - Today. I want to swap 2nd and 3rd by moving 3rd pane to the left. This works. After closing and opening legend, order is reversed again. Very annoying again.

Also in beta, when I mark an item as completed. Not the whole item is turning grey, only the first and second level.

Sorry to report that the agenda pane continues failing when typing an expression inthe filter.
I have 4 panes all outlines and filtered by default only for incomplete items. To test I change any of the panes to agenda mode.
When I type the search term “finish” which should encounter a few dozen items the same behavior continues, the agenda pane become sblank only showing “Today” with 0 items.

Collapsing the groups on the agenda continues to fail in the same way rendering a blank pane.
Other view types, like grouped by tag seem to be working ok with collapsing and filtering responding correctly. However filtering seems to be running slow compared to previous versions. When you click on the filter box and start typing your search term, the application becomes unresponsive (I am testing still in incognito mode in the browser), none of the characters you type appear in the search term until about 40 seconds later when the search term appears at the same time that the filtered items appear in the pane.

So in the Beta I have a couple of board groups reappeared in the last few releases. They were 2 of my old groups of boards that I had originally before losing them all. One is empty and the other contained only one board. When I opened it (it appeared normal) and scrolled to the rightmost pane (it had about 5 panes), the application triggerred an error report for which I provided an explanation, but the last pane to the right appeared empty with the stats bar all the way to top.
This is how it looks. IN theory it should be showing 4563 items but it is empty.

AFter reporting the error, I proceeded to delete the board altogether (as I ahd already recreated that one in the stable version and it showed in teh Beta as well). And when I did that, a phantom Board group and a phantom Board appeared both in Beta and in stable (both empty).

If I delete that empty “Board” in Beta anotherr phantom “Board” appears in Stable and the “Board” in Beta disappears for a while but then it comes back. So now I have two empty “Board ” in stable and one empty “Board” in Beta. It does let me delete them from stable, though because of what Jay explained earlier deleting them from stable does not delete them from Beta.
Once I have deleted them from stable I tried to delete it from Beta, but the damn thing comes back.

So again the syncing issue between Beta and Stable just bit me. One of those empty “Boards” I mentioned before ended up being one of the new boards I had recreated in stable, but for some reason messing with boards in Beta just caused it to be renamed to “Board” and again I deleted it by thinking it was a phantom board … Arggghgh
Now that I needed it and went looking for it, it wasn’t there!!!!!

I patiently recreated it in stable and vaprized my private window with beta. I logged back into Beta and the new board I recreated in stable is NOT showing up in Beta. Whatsmore… the board I created to hold all my documents in separate panes so that I could easily got through each signing in and entering password (because the Mobile had been erased) is no longer in Beta.

I think I am done testing Beta for now… can’t afford to spend more time on this for now. This is already feeling more like an Alpha release than a Beta.

Understood Jorge. I’ve got enough reports in the error tracker to track down and fix these board sync bugs. I haven’t been able to reproduce any of the issues you’ve described by testing it myself, even with 6 instances at the same time across web/mobile and stable/beta… But there’s tons of data in the error reporter about what specifically caused your problems, so I’ll run through that and fix everything up. And I’ll let you know when board sync should be more stable.

Tried switching to beta again last night and got a blank screen. No “loading” dots, just emptyness for a long time.
I didn’t try anything further. Too much work to do right now, to risk losses as I see above.

I just released an update to beta which I think should fix all of the major issues reported here. If you want to test without worry of data loss you could try making a new test account for testing beta features? And you could even export your docs and import them into the test account.

I think the majority of the issues faced were that board sync was sometimes failing on Agenda panes due to a change in collapsing. That was fixed in the previous update, but the pending change was still cached locally so it was continuing to attempt the failing sync. It should now gracefully repair the pending change and work correctly.

I am quite confident in this latest version, but I will keep checking the error reporter and testing to try to break it.

Jay With respect to opening in a new account, I have been seriously considering that that is the only way of getting rid of all the old deleted stuff I have always wanted to just blast away from my documents. Given what you have mentioned have been the problems of corruption or old data that now confuses the system, I am thinking that might be the wayto go, but I would need to change the email under my current account and then open the new account with my current email so that my account conditions persevere in this new account, and later on when I am satisfied with the migration, obliterate my current account.

Don’t know if this is related to the new sync system, but this worked previously. I try to select the first line, but the selection is just below the line. I have this pane:

I change to another view, group by agenda today

Then try to select the first line.

Well I can switch to beta now with the update done.

I see what I’m pretty sure is an old version of my boardset. That is, it’s not a few random boards from my current set that are corrupted or lost; rather I have time-traveled to circa Summer 2022. Some Boards are empty and I think they are the ones I no longer have today. Maybe…it’s hard to be sure about things like this.

I just tried with my “good” laptop for the first time since the last update.
Switch to Beta: blank screen, no Loading
Switch to Stable, logout
Login, switch again to Beta
I Got a new loading screen, with some kind of preview of my document list (order scrambled), along with a very pale progress bar (my Theme dramatically downplays some UI elements). Each document had it’s own loading dots next to it, which were moving but clipped on the right edge. Those dots never changed to indicated progress as each doc was loaded, but the progress bar filled and I got to my Boards.

My Boards, Panes, and documents appear to all be intact,
EXCEPT the one document I have been working in the most recently, which is missing over half of its top-level branches. Hard to tell if children are missing from the remaining branches, at a glance, Not sure if there’s a pattern but it is probably the same ones that went missing last time I tried switching to beta.

I still can’t manually reorder the documents.

@Jay I tried firing up the beta in a private window in edge. It feels it loads faster and I was able to see the list of documents, but because all my big documents are encrypted and the nonecrypted ones are tiny then it just blazes through that and opens up.

However, when I tried to open every single encrypted document, it lets met select the document I want to open, input the password and then….. nothing.. it’s just as if it ignored the password I entered and takes me back to the document. I can’t open any of my encrypted documents.

I refreshed the whole window and now the documnts I had tried to open before appear open. Which is fine, it is no longer a blocker but the UI shouldn’t be behaving like that. something is not refreshing properly after the document is open. It never showed any progress of opening the document after I input the password, it never showed the document now open in the overview and only until I refreshed the window did the documents appeared open in the overview.

The one good thing I see is that now the app doesn’t become unresponsive when opening encrypted documents. Before it would just freeze for a minute or two when opening my big encrypted documents. Now it continues letting me use the app, but it never shows when the document was actually opened.

Desired behavior would be to open the document in the background but show somehwere and indicator that it is working in opening the doc (say in the status bar)., and when it finishes pop up a reminder that the doc is now open.

Jorge Been having the exact same thought. Was already on the brink due to the clutter of old deleted documents, and old data sure seems to like popping up. Can’t help but think it would be clearer sailing if there simply wasn’t any old data in the first place.

For the mobile update I tried to trigger the update, but even if I press [Check for Updates] it still says I am in the latest version, and my mobile beta is still running on 6.0.2 ….82134 June 11

I found another set of missing items in beta. They are present in the stable version.
So still can’t rely on the integrity of the visualization that the beta provides.
And while I was validating this, the board I was working just blew up. All panes deleted and back to the blank board asking you to create a new pane.

the board in stable is of course still there without a problem.
