Style change not retained after restarting Windows app

When I change some background colors in Display Settings, the changes are not being retained after quitting and restarting the Windows app, or after updating to the latest version. Not sure if it is all Colors settings are just specific ones, but typically I just change .star.

I’m trying to reproduce this and I can’t figure out why it would be happening.

Is it only in the app or is it affecting the web app too?
Is it affecting all color settings or only some?
Do settings in the Basic section like Font Size save correctly?

@Jerud You said in another thread that reset wasn’t working, which I think might be related? Are the settings saving correctly for you?

My font size settings save correctly. Changes to date colour are not being retained.

christophe Saving tag colors is still not working in the latest update? Are other settings working? What settings are you applying to tags?

I haven’t done a lot of testing.
The few modifications I made worked (font size for example) but for the color of the tag, it always returns to blue when I want to put it on orange.
I don’t know if the problem is showing up on other layouts.

christophe Are you definitely on the latest versions? 1629619119540 or 1629624204255. Does it apply correctly but then revert when you reload? Do other color changes work?

Date colour and pane header colour are applying correctly but not saving. “Check for update” comes back as being latest, although the version I am on is 1629627875208

Hmm. If you open the display settings after it loads, are the colors in the theme editor as you had last changed them? That’s what I fixed before, where it did have the correct settings but wasn’t applying them correctly on load. Or have those values reverted back to the default? And is it not saving in Color or Layout or both?

In my case, changing the star color applies properly and shows the correct value when I go back into Display Settings, but once I quit and restart the Windows app, the value in Display Settings reverts back to default and the actually applied color is the default color. This happens with other colors that I have tried as well. This is also happening in the web version… when I reload the page, or close the tab and open a new one and load the page, the colors revert.

Wow, I just cannot figure out why it’s not working for all of you. I even copied @andrew’s data to my test account (documents are encrypted so it’s all garbled but settings are not) and it’s got your changes to star and date colors, and then saves correctly. So it seems like it’s saving and syncing correctly, so it must be something else…

I’ve released a possible fix with a lot of logging to our staging environment. Could you please try the version at https://staging.legendapp.com/ and see if it works better? If it’s having the same problem, can you send me a screenshot of the developer tools console? That will tell me how far it gets through loading themes and what the saved values are.

Note: You don’t want to keep using the staging version beyond this test. It’s where I test changes before releasing them to beta so may become unstable in the future.

I still have the same problem.
I don’t know what to take from the console?
I apply the color I want to the tags, then I take a screenshot of the console?

Oh sorry, take a screenshot of the console just after the app/page loads. You should see it start with some messages like:

Still a problem with the staging version. Below is my console output. I notice that the color that is set for star and date are NOT the colors that I have most recently saved. In fact, those value were probably set back when you first released this functionality. I have since changed the colors many times. I tried now to change the values in staging, and the newly changed colors are applied properly, but after reloading, it reverts to the default colors and shows these same old color values in the console output:

Light currently. Had previously set it to dark.
